Weekly net inflow to Okanagan Lake: how fast the valley's main reservoir is filling or drawing down, this water year compared with the long-term average.
Caveats. Net inflow is a computed estimate (change in lake storage plus regulated outflow, evaporation excluded), not a direct measurement; true inflows are somewhat higher. Underlying data are publicly available observations from the Water Survey of Canada and may be provisional and subject to revision. Third-party data. The tool ingests publicly available observations from the Water Survey of Canada (Environment and Climate Change Canada). The Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB) is not the source of these data and makes no representation as to their accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Data may be provisional, subject to revision, or unavailable without notice.
Net inflow is a computed estimate. The weekly net-inflow values shown here are not directly measured. They are derived from a water balance: the change in lake storage (from the Okanagan Lake level gauge, converted to volume using a published stage-storage relationship) plus the regulated outflow at the Penticton dam, following the operational convention in which lake-surface evaporation is excluded. Actual inflows are therefore somewhat higher than the figures shown. Values should be understood as informed estimates, not exact measurements, and may be revised as the underlying gauge data are finalized.
Not for emergency or safety-of-life use. This tool is intended to support public understanding and long-horizon water-management context. It is not designed for, and must not be relied upon as the sole basis for, decisions affecting public safety, emergency response, infrastructure operations, or regulatory compliance.
